Ganesh 32 Styles


The Mysore king of the 19th century; ordered scholars of his kingdom to make a list of all images of the gods. In this process they compiled 32 forms of Ganesha in different styles that they found being worshipped in the various temples and househods. These various forms of Ganesha are as follows.

1. Bala Ganapathy = The child like Ganesha
2. Lakshmi Ganapathy = Ganesha with the goddess of wealth
3. Tryakshara Ganapathy = Three syllable Ganesha
4. Heramba Ganapathy = The fierce Ganesha
5. Vighna Ganapathy = Obstacle-removing Ganesha
6. Siddhi Ganapathy = The accomplished Ganesha
7. Veera Ganapathy = Valiant Ganesha
8. Taruna Ganapathy = Youthful Ganesha
9. Urdhva Ganapathy = The restrained Ganesha
10. Bhakti Ganapathy = Devotion worthy Ganesha
11. Dvija Ganapathy = Twice born or Student Ganesha
12. Ekakshara Ganapathy = Single syllable Ganesha
13. Vara Ganapathy = The boon bestowing Ganesha
14. Ucchishta Ganapathy = Ganesha who accepts offerings
15. Kshipra Ganapathy = Quick acting Ganesha
16. Maha Ganapathy = The great Ganesha
17. Vijaya Ganapathy = Triumphant Ganesha
18. Nritta Ganapathy = Dancing Ganesha
19. Shakti Ganapathy = Ganasha with his strength seated in female form on his left lap
20. Trimukha Ganapathy = Three-headed Ganesha
21. Dvimukha Ganapathy = Two headed Ganesha
22. Yoga Ganapathy = Ganesha as yogi
23. Dundi Ganapathy = Desired Ganesha
24. Sankatahara Ganapathy = Problem-solving Ganesha
25. Haridra Ganapathy = The golden Ganesha
26. Srishti Ganapathy = Cosmic Ganesha
27. Rana-mochana Ganapathy = Debt redeeming Ganesha
28. Ekadhanta Ganapathy = One toothed Ganesha
29. Udanda Ganapathy = The disciplinarian Ganesha
