Vyasa & Ganesha

The sage Vyasa was aware of the events of the epic known as the Mahabharata. But all his thoughts were scrambled and tied in knots. So he invoked Ganesha to help him untangle these knots, organize his thoughts and document them. Ganesha agreed & became Vyasa's scribe. Then Ganesha wrote down the great Epic Mahabharata, without stopping for a moment. This is believed to have taken place on the third day of the waxing moon in the month of Vaishaka. This auspicious day is also known as Akshaya Tritiya. It is also believed that Ganesha used his piece of broken tusk to write Mahabharata.
